Convalescing, on Mycroft’s invitation, at the Holmes family seat, John encounters someone entirely unexpected and uncovers an intriguing seventeen year-old mystery. Things hot up as John finds himself battling to work out the solution before James Moriarty’s legacy catches up with him – and also rekindling a love affair that was never really given the chance to blossom.

Begins with a sort of flashback, so don't get confused. Actual story starts after Sherlock's 'fall'.
A lovely story which proposes a new idea: Sherlock suffering from multiple personality disorder.
To state it quite bluntly; I really frown upon this notion. I didn't like Sherlock in this story. He was too out of character. Well, strike that: he had just not enough character for me. To me, Sherlock's most established trait is his sharp wit and the snarky humor. Here, he's a bit mild, almost mellow. Some might argue that it's the mental illness, but to me, a story depicting him as mentally ill is well-written when he seems in character.
Much criticism, yet a rec. Because it's not a bad read. Just because I dislike the general idea and the way he was depicted does not mean I cannot see the solid structure of this work.
