Title: Secrets
Author: CrimPsyche
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: Mycroft/Lestrade, Sherlock
Warning: PG-13, violence
Length: Medium
Status: Completed
After a rather painful night, Mycroft Holmes and Sherlock Holmes are kicked out of their home. Without money, their only choice is to live in a downtrodden flat. With Mycroft struggling for enough money, they live on a week-to-week basis. However, when he meets a rather handsome officer at the coffee shop where he works, will Mycroft be forced to swallow his pride and admit that, maybe, just maybe, he needs help?
AO3
Is Mycroft a good or a bad brother? Neither, I suppose. Yes, he is responsible, he seems to love Sherlock, but he also resents him somewhat.
This is like a meta fic of their relationship.

Both Sides Now
Title: Both Sides Now
Author: QED_221B
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: Sherlock, Mycroft
Warning: PG-13, child abuse (Mycroft), violence
Length: Medium
Status: Completed
Mycroft and Sherlock didn't meet until Sherlock was 7, Mycroft lived with his abusive father. Sherlock doesn't learn of the abuse until years later
AO3
This story highlights different aspects of Sherlock and Mycroft's characters.
Sherlock's a brat. And a bastard. Then he's adorable. Then protective. And an idiot. Mycroft claims he isn't, though.
Mycroft appears weak, which was at first rather distracting. A tad OoC one might think. Well, then he is hopeful, just to get all his hopes crushed. Then he forgives Sherlock.
I haven't seen a story that illuminates their relationship from so many different angles.

Soldiering on Through Friendly Fire
Title: Soldiering on Through Friendly Fire
Author: Schmiezi
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John, Sherlock, Moran
Warning: PG-13, violence, suicide (Moran)
Length: Medium
Status: Completed
Set directly after Reichenbach. John is not as unknowing as Mycroft thought, and not as easy to break as Moran thought. Sherlock might not be as unaffected by this caring thing as he thought himself.
I've taken the liberty to grade this as a friendship fic instead of pre-slash. While there are some hints, I cannot see it as more than the deep friendship John and Sherlock share in canon, too.
It's very interesting to see Sherlock have some history with Moran. Usually, John is the one who was in the army with Moran, or who gets to know him. Somehow, I like the chemistry. Sherlock and Moran were both graspable, and I could imagine it rather well. With all of Moran's obsession.

Intimacies
Title: Intimacies
Author: pbjetpetita
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: Sherlock/John , John/OMC, Sherlock/OMC
Warning: R, slash, violence (John)
Length: Medium
Status: Completed
In the first couple of weeks at 221B Baker Street, John decides how to go about being Sherlock Holmes's friend.
John is still working through what it means that he's become friends with the world's only consulting detective. And now he knows that joking about it is not always such a good idea.
In which John is left on his own to investigate a murder, Sherlock is mistakenly locked in a lab at Bart’s, and “friendship” and “love story” are shown not to be mutually exclusive categories.
After an unlucky encounter with a couple of homophobes in an alley, John spends some time reconsidering things. Sherlock remains, as per usual, hyperaware of important things (like the amount of mud on a shoe or the quality of any given toiletry product), and half-insensible to irrelevant things (like feelings).
Sherlock attempts to get over his infatuation with his new flatmate using the time-honored solutions of brooding, misdirection, and avoidance. And of course sex.
AO3
Ehm. There's lots of hugging.
I think this describes the story quite well...
I am serious ^^
Bonus: John in a gay club. John all proud that he did it with a guy. Yes. Incredibly adorable. Don't let Martin Freeman read that...

Title: Left Behind
Author: MoonRiver
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock, Victor/Sherlock(switch), Mycroft
Warning: NC-17, slash, child abuse(Sherlock), injury(Sherlock, John, Victor, Mr. Trevor), violence(Sherlock), drug abuse(Victor, Sherlock)
Length: Novella
Status: Completed
Sherlock lost his virginity after his first year at university. After running away from his abusive father he allows Victor Trevor in, offering him complete trust until tragedy tears them apart. The breakup is traumatizing, and they don't speak again...until Victor shows up in London nine years later, asking for Sherlock and John's help.
At AO3
I like this one. Classic for the fact that it involves Victor and is sort of meta - in a way that it covers Sherlock' university years until "now" while not breaking the magical 100.000 words.
I have a very high opinion of this - there's so much love in there. You feel the joy and love MoonRiver holds for BBC Sherlock.
And to round it up, a short quote.
I think this is true, not just for Victor but for the entire Sherlock Fandom. Why do we like BBC Sherlock? I mean, just from the description without ever having seen Sherlock, we get an aggressive, ruthless, intelligent, rude, almost non-empathic person. So why do we like the series, why do we want season three, and possibly season four, and whatever they will give us? Because we can tell that Sherlock is worth it. The person. We see something in him that tells us that there's more to him, and that's why we feel with him. That's why we care. Why we care to see where he's going.

The Baker Street Nativity
Title: The Baker Street Nativity
Author: SwissMiss
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock, Lestrade, Jim
Warning: R, slash, violence, AU
Length: Novel
Status: Completed
Sherlock is a primary school teacher and John is assigned to be his classroom assistant. Together, they are charged with putting on the school's Nativity play. What could possibly go wrong?
At AO3
Hilarious, insightful story with a very good John. He's patient, kind, good with children, good with and for Sherlock... god. I finally got some of the high esteem in which I once held him back. I have to admit that the Mary thing has shaken me, just as much as many of those fics that I began to read and discontinued reading. I hate stories where the author put him as some faithful husband that just doesn't want to hurt any party. I like him better when he knows that he should either lay in the bed he's made himself or admit that it was a mistake and set it right. John's decisive - and in this story, while he wants to please, he is decisive.
Finally. I love him.
Sherlock's actually rather self-conscious in this story. Don't know if I have read something similiar as of yet. Usually, when he's self-conscious, he's often depicted more mental (not in a degrading way!). Sherlock here is brilliant but not overly sociopathic. Just self-conscious and he has had some pretty rough experiences which shaped him.
To me, one of the most surprising stories I've read in the past weeks. It restored my faith in John, and that makes it one of my favorite stories ever right now.

John jumps in Sherlock's stead. Moriarty's organisation is massive, but not impenetrable. There's a bigger game being played well over Sherlock's head.
At AO3
This one's interesting. There's a lot of BAMF!John in there and more of a very apathic, silent Sherlock. Not my usual "stuff" but I liked the characterization.

Author: WendyBird
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock, John/Mary, Lestrade
Warnings: NC-17, slash, violence, murder(Victor Trevor), violence, injury(John)
Length: Novella
Status: Completed
On the three year anniversary of Sherlock's death, John finds something unusual in his flat. He shouldn't be so thrilled to be finally going mad. But is he? Oh god, yes.
At AO3
Loved that one. Okay, I really was applauding when Mary left (not my case, I've seen her interpreted more to my liking) but seriously, John and Sherlock are just the right mix of messed-up, loneliness and angst. The story doesn't span a big time frame, thus the narrative is very direct and precise. It's about an event, not a character story. WendyBird became one of my favorite authors within the first two chapters. The subtle method to tell Sherlock's return captivated me.

Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock, John/Jim, Irene, Mycroft, Lestrade/Molly
Warning: NC-17, slash, BDSM, injury(John), violence
Length: Novel
Status: Ongoing
At AO3
Series includes:
If You Were Mine
If You Were with Me on the Bridge
If You Were the Hunter
Difficult work, to be honest. I can't say whole-heartedly that I liked it. There were some elements that almost frightened me off, e.g. John/Jim. But then, I can't say without adding a but that I didn't like it. Because, hands down, Sherlock is written very intriguingly. Sometimes I really respected John, sometimes I thought he was forced into too many roles. In the end, the story left me hanging. I didn't really know whether I was rooting for Johnlock - John just didn't seem to care as much for Sherlock as Sherlock did for him. That made me feel bad for Sherlock. But John did care before, so... difficult. I suppose there's still some time for him to come around and sort out his feelings.

Sherlock and John meet as potential flatmates, just in time for John to get a more attractive offer as a partner in Irene Adler's business. This calls for discretion, so he reluctantly refuses Sherlock's offer to share a flat, but he can't quite get Sherlock Holmes out of his mind.
A series of suicides provides Sherlock with a much-needed distraction. A dead cabbie gives Sherlock the next clue in the game: the name Moriarty. And when John Watson comes back into the game, Sherlock can't help but wonder where to draw the line between coincidence and fact.

What happened during the three years Sherlock disappeared from Baker Street? A month by month of count of those years, including mysteries, family histories, some running, and one of the few other technically dead people living in the world: Irene Adler.
At AO3
Another Sherlock/Irene Story from me. Their interactions are very delicate in the majority of the story. It takes them a long time to find some common ground to work with. Irene is depicted in a different light than most shed on her. Usually, people do not bother with her past. Here, it's her past that haunts them and makes it possible for Sherlock to get through to her.

I didn't read this, actually I made a wide detour whenever crossing its path. Title just... isn't my cup of tea. Nothing you make fun about. Yet I just had too much time and after getting in touch with pir8fancier's other works, I thought I'd at least give it a chance.
And here you go, a rec. Good, solid work. Nice introperspective (Harry's POV).

A Year like None Other
It all started with a letter from home and family. Except, Harry doesn't really have either, does he? He's about to get them. A Snape-adopts-Harry story providing an alternate 6th year.
760 k words.
II:
A Summer like None Other
Family isn't everything, as Harry, Snape, and Draco discover in this sequel to A Year Like None Other. How will a mysterious mirror and a surprising new relationship affect a father and his two sons?
220 k words.
III:
A Family like None Other
During his final year at Hogwarts, relationships will splinter as Harry confronts secrets long-buried and faces the greatest challenge of them all.
380 k words.
I have to admit: I haven't read A Family like None Other yet. Not completely. Will do so soon, just haven't got the time. The series is an excellent read, though. It is rather logical, in character (and if it isn't, there's a good explanation for it). One thing Dumbledore never told Harry about horcruxes, is that they are harder to destroy than to create. When things to wrong, he must learn to rely on the last person he ever thought he'd trust.

What started for John Watson as an idyllic vacation to the rustic wilderness with a girlfriend turns upside down when Sherlock Holmes joins them with the promise of a new case. But a secluded resort stirs past desires back to life, and the case becomes something neither detective nor doctor could have prepared for.
At AO3
This is... yucks. No, not the story! Rather the murder and the case. I quite liked Sherlock in here, though John got on my nerves. Especially when he hurt Sherlock's feelings, when he basically trampled over him just after having fucked him. If you like tension, can stand gore, are not only in for the slash but take it as a bonus - here you go.

Opus
Title: Opus
Author: AnonyMouseHatesCaptcha
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: Lestrade/Sherlock
Warnings: R, slash, violence
Length: Short
Status: Ongoing
Twenty-something Sherlock Holmes gets off on sucking cock anonymously in public toilets. Recently divorced, forty-something Greg Lestrade gets off on… well, he gets off.
At AO3
Another Sherstrade story. I seriously hope the author will continue it someday. It is written in a nice, not too sophisticated, not too amateurish style. The main idea isn't bad either.

What Mycroft Did
Title: What Mycroft Did
Author: LittlePippin76
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: Mycroft, Sherlock
Warning: R, violence, drug abuse, illness, child abuse
Length: Medium
Status: Completed
At FF
Pre-Canon story featuring Mycroft's diary entries while Sherlock is detoxing. Frankly, a very simple writing style that is also one of the most cutting. You see the damage on Mycroft's mind, the damage done to Sherlock from their home. And there's this adorable side to Mycroft, the one you want to hug and cuddle and tell him that it's alright to indulge it. He's a child inside, a child that wasn't allowed to be one. Ever. A sappy drug story.

"Listen," he said to me, "you will take care of him, won't you? He's a good kid, I know he is, but, well it's all got a bit out of control. I'm sorry. I think being on his own for Christmas didn't help."
I wondered what he was apologising to me for, but it occurred to me he felt responsible for S's habit. And perhaps even for not inviting him for Christmas himself. I suspect I have not been the only one keen on resolving the drugs issue.

The Adventure of The Civil Partnership
Title: The Adventure of The Civil Partnership
Author: Rairakku1234
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock
Warnings: R, violence, marriage
Length: Novella
Status: Ongoing
Sherlock and John are hunting a kidnapper who has been taking newlywed couples across the Greater London Area and Sherlock has the perfect way to flush him out.
At AO3
Marriage fic with both parties discovering their feelings slowly. I like those - especially nice: Sherlock socializing to catch a murderer.

The Omega Sutra
Title: The Omega Sutra
Author: Ghislainem70
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock, Lestrade/Mycroft, OMC (Maxim)
Warning: NC-17, slash, mpreg, omegaverse, mention of non-con, violence
Length: Novel
Status: Ongoing
Sherlock Holmes has a secret life. John Watson shouldn't want to be part of it.
At AO3
Description does not flatter this story enough; smutty omegaverse with some plot with plotholes you'll read over and think "whatever, too good to drop it". This story had me on my toes for two days, it is really fun ~
