Ink Your Name

Title: Ink Your Name
Author: prettyvk
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock, Mycroft, Mary
Warning: NC-17, slash, disability (Sherlock), amnesia (Sherlock)
Length: Novella
Status: Ongoing

he metaphor is imperfect but still workable. If my long term memory is a hard drive, then my short term memory is RAM. The hard drive became read-only following the illness. New data is stored in RAM and can be used while I remain awake. Going to sleep – ‘turning off’ – wipes the RAM, returning the system to what it was prior to the illness.

AO3

This is absolutely brilliant, and heart-warming, and the end is a hopeful outlook. There's another story like Ink Your Name out there but it ends rather sadly. This one does not. You end the story on a cheery note. It's lovely.

Be Here Now

Title: Be Here Now
Author: Todesfuge
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John/Sherlock, Irene, Mycroft, OMC (James Moriarty)
Warning: NC-17, slash, illness (Sherlock), drug abuse (Sherlock), injury (Irene, John), PTSD (John), suicidal (John), amnesia (John), locked (John)
Length: Novel

Status: Ongoing

John Watson was already fighting demons when he and Sherlock met. With Sherlock's suicide, it all comes flooding back, forcing Sherlock to intervene before he's solved the persistent riddles of Jim Moriarty and his game. Together they find that something darker lurks behind Moriarty, forcing Sherlock, John, and Irene Adler into an even deadlier game with a much more dangerous foe.

AO3

Amazing series, for sure.
Todesfuge has got the ability to make the story seem really dense, no matter how long it takes for things to proceed. There are many facettes to this work that make it worthy to be read. There's revenge, love (mutual, unrequited, brotherly), anger, despair, a case of sorts, meeting old friends, saying goodbye to them, mental problems, health issues, recovery, ... and so on. Dense, as I said, but by no means overloaded.

Songs of Expedience

Title: Songs of Expedience
Author: Impractical Beekeeping
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John, Sherlock, Mycroft
Warning: PG-13, drug abuse (Sherlock), injury (Sherlock), amnesia (Sherlock)
Length: Novella
Status: Ongoing

Post Reichenbach adventures told from varying perspectives. Sherlock, Sebastian Moran, and John told separately, then joined (minus one) into an ongoing narrative.

Or in own words: When Sherlock returns to take out Sebastian Moran...

AO3

The first two to three instalments are a bit hard to read, there's lots of stream of consciousness. A worthy read, though. The case later is enjoyable and interesting. These Songs all are rather poetic in some aspects and there are lots of references to be caught. If that's your cup of tea... definitely read it. I loved it.

In Memoriam

Title: In Memoriam
Author: strangegibbon
Fandom: Sherlock

Characters: John/Sherlock, Mary
Warning: NC-17, slash, amnesia, injury(John)
Length: Novella
Status: Completed

Sherlock returns from his self-imposed exile to find a John Watson he barely recognises. Now he must solve the mystery of the disappeared man and try to rebuild their relationship as well as deal with his own return to a London that has forgotten him.

AO3

I love my Sherlock to be injured, sick or whatever makes it Sherlock!whump. John, though, I like him independent. Even so, this author taught me to appreciate John!whump. Sherlock is rather miserable while dealing with John's amnesia, which fulfils my need for him to feel somehow awful, too. I guess, a win-win for everybody. Well, not John and Sherlock, I fear.
Mary wasn't necessary to the plot but I feel like it's a role rather suited to her. I wouldn't mind being somehow connected to Moriarty in the third season, either. Would bring more spice to her otherwise, to use Sherlock's words, dull character. (Nothing against the actress, so no flaming. I just don't like the idea of Mary Morstan. At least not the idea of Doyle's Morstan. She is sickenly dull and absolutely unimportant to the story. Even Doyle knew that, he never gave her another appearance after her case. I just hope Sherlock's Mary won't be like that - I still hope she's either a prostitute John hired while he was grieving and became attached to her, Harry's new girlfriend, or ends up falling in love with Sherlock and thus tells John at the wedding altar that she can't marry him. Reminds me to put some entry on about these options. Just for the sake of it. For some ranting. I feel like ranting once more.)

Lost For Words

Title: Lost For Words
Author: awanderingbard
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: John, Sherlock, mommy Holmes, Mycroft
Warning: PG-13, injury, disability, amnesia
Length: Novella
Status: Completed

Sherlock is assaulted by an unknown assailant while John is away at a medical conference, leaving him with a severe brain injury. While his intellect and personality are intact, he's lost the use of his right-side limbs and his ability to speak freely. John suddenly finds himself as the main source of support, and possibly a caregiver, to a flatmate who is struggling to do the things he loves most. And Sherlock Holmes has never been the best of patients.

At AO3

A nice mommy Holmes. A nice one! One which seems almost normal. And with a rather normal Sherlock - mommy Holmes interaction! Really.
And the end makes you grin.
Because... everyone's fine^^

Author: DementorDelta
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Snape/Harry
Warning: R, slash, amnesia, post-war
Length: Short
Status: Completed

Harry wakes up in the Infirmary, but why is Professor Snape the one acting so odd?

Dance Partners

Has been some time since I read this story - couldn't resist putting it up, though.
I like DementorDelta. Not all her stories are my cup of tea, but many. One of the authors you must know. Just like... Shakespeare. Or Poe. No matter whether you like them or not, they're classics, for god's sake XD
