Why didn't I rec this before? I've read it two times already! Well, so never to late, I suppose. Here goes nothing - I like verityburns. Seriously. Verityburns' works always do have a certain something that makes it pleasant to read them. With the Heart in the Whole, you get a lot of tropes often neglected in Sherlock fandom. Sherlock becomes disabled and has to deal with it - not easy, especially when it is possible that his sight returns. There's hope and this hope makes it difficult to adapt to normal life again. Then there's John, poor, reliable, responsible, caring John. I believe without him Sherlock never would manage his life again. He needs him, not just for physical help but also emotionally. It's a good mixture, and not out of character. So go for it.
